this mcdonald's. this is new york this morning. fast-food companies say increasing wages as much as $15 an hour would lead to increased customer costs and fewer jobs. last month, president obama said he would back a senate measure to raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour. we're also expected to get some video later this morning, hopefully any time soon. mcdonald's workers protesting outside the smithsonian's national air and space museum. they work there under a federal contract. they are calling on the president to issue an executive order that companies doing bis with the federal government -- business with the federal government pay that wage. the workers say it's difficult to live on 7.25 an hour which is only about $15,000 a year. now, again, protests at 100 cities across the country here in the bay area, workers are striking. planning to strike outside of fast-food restaurants in oakland, in san jose. in our next hour of "mornings on 2," we'll have more details on where and when those walkouts will take place a little later on today. >>> reporting live in the newsroom,

at the global problem with republicans, it's two things. one is there's a huge gender gap. it's not new, but it's a lot worse than it used to be. in 2012, mitt romney had the biggest gender gap in history, 12 points between he and barack oba obama. that's one thing, female voters. the other problem is they don't have -- >> members. >> enough members in order to roach out to the voters. and just look at these numbers. they're really stark. 232 members of the house republican caucus. 19, brooke, 19 of those are women. that's all. so they're trying to do two things. one is appeal to women to run. and try to get some of the female candidates running to win. but also try to get female voters to support their republican candidates, men or women. >> do you think john boehner is comp tntd in this sensitivity training? think it will work? >> you know, unclear. unclear, but it is really, really interesting, just really quickly, what they're doing. it's broad media training. every candidate has it and both parties do it, but they're adding an element of explaining that, you know, not only should you not s

news is press tv. i am an independent now. i used to be a diehard but my priorities have changed seeing as how the country has changed foreign policy. i thought at least obama, even though i voted third party after ron paul and after what republicans did to ron paul, the convention was totally disgusting, i left the party -- the their priority neocons took over republican party, which is a jewish obama is still being andby the nose by netanyahu they run our congress and it is horrible. >> who do you think are the big ,nfluencers on this white house outside the political realm? rachel's point, they are in strong opposition with obama on the iran deal. whether or not in six months ago, where obama is on that deal, will in some ways reveal how much pressure is being from some pro-israel groups and the israeli government. governs in an insular way. that is a phrase used a lot. his own counsel. he listens to a small group of people. he pays attention to the democratic base. he has been raising a lot of money for midterm elections, which makes him responsive quite a bit to democratic concerns

to blame for that? let's ask katie pavlich, a news editor of town hall.com and fox news contributor and has a great piece on this very subject. katie, good morning. >> good morning. >> has america become the land of man children in the land of obama? is that what we've become? >> we're definitely getting there. since 2009, the youth unemployment rate for young people 18 to say 35 has hovered around 16%. when you have that problem, you have more people living at home and more people depending on government programs. under barack obama, who we all know is a big government advocate, there is an interest in keeping young people dependent on their parents and dependent on big government because the last thing they want is for young people to go in the real world and realize how much things actually cost, how many taxes they're paying and what it takes to be independent. >> what is the interest, the specific interest they have in making sure that young people don't know what it's like in the real world, that are comforted and sheltered by the government dole, by dollars, by checks, by benefits? w
